I have adjustable rivet gun

When I use mine it pulls all way through and does not snap off metal. Is this normal.

If your rivet gun cannot grip the mandrel properly, either the jaws are oily or the jaws are worn out. Is that what you asked?

Often poor quality rivets can cause this issue. Also, holes too big and rivet length too long for the application.

Thumbs up

Aluminum rivets on aluminum panels, usually werks best.
Never mild steel!

Stainless can be useful when extra strength is needed, but can be difficult to shear, especially over 1/8".

Use a backing washer whenever possible, same material.
