Hairline Crack in Aluminum.

I have a very thin hairline crack in my aluminum near the corner of the wheel well. It is very thin and only about a 1/2 inch long. I don't want it to get any longer. Would a temperary fix be to drill a small hole on the end of the crack? I heard that will stop the crack from spreading. Thanks for any advise.

Drilling holes is the way to stop cracks on an aircraft and should also work in your case. I would then pop a rivet in the hole and no one would ever be the wiser.

Stopping a crack is one thing.

Findout out what caused it, and then fixing that problem, is the best way to stop the crack from getting worse.
