Inquisitive minds want to know, did they indeed buy it back?
They would only "buy it back" if it were totaled. Otherwise, the dealer submits a claim, the insurance company writes a check, that's it.

You would offer to buy it from the dealer's insurance company, if you can find out who that is and get the trailer VIN number. That way they don't have any of the processing hassles.

Thank you all for the feedback - it has been helpful in my decision-making process.

For the inquisitive minds, the salesperson was supposed to send me pictures last night or this morning, and I haven't heard from him. So, I don't know whether or not the trailer was totaled or if it has a salvage title.

In the meantime, I have pretty much decided to go with a new, undamaged Airstream. I fully expect that it will collect dents and perhaps other marks over its lifetime, but they will then be part of the stories of my own adventures.... Thanks again

Every dent on Bess, I did and I remember where and why it happened; sort of like a travelogue that never goes away.

My 65 Globetrotter was hit with golfball size hail this month. The front end cap got hit good. I polished it in June.

An Airstream dealer told me that the new aluminum pieces are different and will not match my old aluminum.

An airstream restorer told me the new aluminum is the same and does match. The only difference is the new clear coat is hard to remove. But as long as my old skin is polished, the new will match the old.

Who is correct?
