First dent blues

I found a 1950's 3" pipe clothesline pole with my endcap.

I need to have my butt-tachometer recalibrated - had been shifting trailers all morning using 4X4 low range and had my spotter busy mowing beneath trailer while it was pulled forward when this happened.

I saw if I moved trailer a bit more the lawn would be neater so I hopped in F-150 and started it up and dropped it into gear - the motor was on high-idle and covered ALOT more ground creeping forward then it had all morning.

Opinions on lower panel ripples? It was one of the good corners too..

Replacement will make the quarter panel ok again.

Sorry, aluminum stretches when it bends/dents. Not too much to be done. On the other hand, it doesn't look toooo bad.

I had similar damage and I put a new piece over the damage. It was not hard. Made a templit to catch the curvature and cut out the new piece with a jig saw

Don't you have a parts trailer that you could rob a skin from?

Ouch! Just performed the same oops a few weeks ago on my sovereign. except on the front. Its a good 5 inch dent. (nailed it while backing semi trailer) best of luck with the repair!

*Moosetags - salvage trailer panel is in worse shape..
*Pop Rivet, nice pictures & even better repair, since this hit is easily accesible from interior it'd be panel change out, if it gets repaired at all, as it is sooo shallow wrinkling..

I believe this will get the dry-ice & heat gun treatment; found cans of chewing-gum remover for $2 on clearance yesterday so will try an aerosol cold source before moving to the CO2 block to try and quench the stretch out..

The gentle embrace of aluminum yielding against an immovable object starts off so faintly it never registered that I could be striking something. I don't think I had a chance to stop before the trailer snubbed hard against it but now that sensation has been recorded in the "wet ware" in the things to avoid department. Keep alert folks, just a errant second of inattentiveness is all it takes...

I had good luck removing a large gouge on my GT using the tool shown on post 65 of my "skin corrosion" thread. It was easy to make and works better then I expected.

I have a LOT of bumps and bangs on the '51. At first it bothered me but now I look at it and realize that it still looks an awful lot better than I do and we are almost the same age. So the obvious ones that were fix-able without a ton of work and expense I've taken care of and the others are reminders that this trailer gets used - it's not a driveway queen.

Ah well, it would be nice though to have the body of the twin to mine I found for my buddies. One or two little things on the outside to deal with and theirs is virtually dent free - where on mine I think there's one panel that doesn't have a dent in it, I just haven't found that panel yet.

Take pictures to share of your repair efforts and heck, if it ends up having some markings, but doesn't leak or cause a safety issue, put your shades on, gas up the truck, and go camping.

Self-inflicted wounds are the worst - the ones where there is no one to rant about except the guy in the mirror ..... I have several of those - small and inconsequential so far ..... but the downfall of Airstream longevity is that the odds eventually catch up .....
