Finishing raw edges on patches

I have searched various ways, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to finish the raw edges on the aluminum before I put them back up. Do I sand them? Insight would be great. Thanks!!!

First we filed them with a fine metal file then took the rough edge off with a pnuematic air tool & "scotchbrite-like" disc attachement. Something like these:

Air Tool
Discs

Worked great!
