I've removed my ZipDee awning from my vintage trailer so that I can polish the TT, and now that its off, I think I'd like to get a vintage awning to match. The only problem is that I have holes left from where the newer awning attached!

Any ideas of how to fill them in so that it doesn't take away from the highly polished finish?

You can fill them with a large rivet (they have them at Fastenal), or since you've polished your trailer, you can put a stainless steel bolt in there--the kind with the head that looks like a large rivet (you probably have access to the back of it since you had a bracket with bolts on it). I used a couple of large rivets where my brackets were.....by the way....now that you have about finished polishing your Bambi, maybe you'd like to fill your Fridays polishing my Bambi II! Looks great!

Use Olympic rivets if they cover the holes. Those awning screws are pretty large and may push the limit. I have used aluminum "fairing" washers under an Olympic and the result was good. Both polish up and look appropriate for the vintage work. Don't forget the Vulkem.

Can you fill them with an Olympic rivet? Hope they're not any bigger than that.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to look into the rivets--no access to the other side to use a bolt, though.

I THOUGHT I was done today until the outside bay door opened to let in sunlight (I've been polishing under artificial light where its warmer!). The sun revealed several cloudy areas, so I'll be back to the wool polisher and tougher grades of Nuvite again.

The next time I pass through Mizzou and get blinded by reflection I guess it will by you passing by.

Oh well, maybe I'll travel only on cloudy days.

Polarlyse, YEP! That's what all of my friends are saying too! :-)
My dad even asked if it was legal to have it as shiny as it'll be! LOL

At some point in our restoration I thought it would be a great idea to strip the paint off the interior side of the door. While it turned out rather nice I have since melted two.outdoor rugs from the sun light reflecting off the open door. Great for working on your tan.
