fabricating early 50's end cap lips

are early 50's end cap skins flat aluminum with a lip edge? if they are indeed flat how does one go about getting that lip edge? i noticed that its not a straight bend and looks more curved and rolled or pressed. good links? anyone with success? thanks!

I asked the same question recently. Search using fabricating end panel segments . To me it looks like a 1/4 round bead, although I do not have the trailer here. Some say its more of a slight bend. I will be making new end panel segments this spring. I look forward to see what you come up with

Here is the edge forming tool I asked for for Christmas present. Got it but have not tried it yet. There is even a little video on the site about how to use it.

Greg, could you post some photos of how that tool works once you try it out?

I have noticed that some years of the thirteen panel have a bead on the lower edge and some are just a flat bend. I need to pay more attention to the years and which plant made which styles. A bead would require a roller to form it. Just don't buy the one they sell at Harbor Freight and please don't ask me why I say that...

Thank you for the link Greg. A 1957 Overlander with end cap damage found its way into my life last weekend. I have been trying to figure out the best way to make new segments at home. The bead/bend had me stumped. This tool looks likeit is the ticket. Please report your findings when you try it
