Since it's a brand new rig I'd recommend a panel replacement. I don't believe you'd get it to pull out clean with a suction cup. Hopefully you have good insurance on it and all but the deductible will be covered.

On panel - No seam - NEW '07 Airstream - Up front and obvious - This is a no brainer, take her to the MOTHERSHIP and let them replace the panel. Do it now or travel with her all year and get her done in the winter, maybe you might have more for them to do (I HOPE NOT).

I know it hurts, I protect mine like crystal, but I fully expect it to happen to me some day .

Good Luck, Have Fun, Try to forget about it, "That's what insurance is for!!".

Yes, I think she needs to go back to the Mothership for repairs; I don't want someone to hone their repair skills on her

Thanx, Lance

I had a simular dent across a seam up front. I beleive it was a UFO part. Thats my story and I am sticking to it!
I took mine back to the factory and they did a very nice job of replacing the two font panels that were damaged. It took a few days.

I agree with the panel replacement. Unlike steel, aluminium is hard to repair it when there is any stretching of the metal. Steel can be heat shrunk to take out the "oil can" after the dent is pushed out. Aluminium by is low melt point is nearly impossible to "shrink" correctly.

I think that insurance might be the avenue to take as this is likely spendy.

Good luck

Question

Anyone had panel replacement/repair experience (good, bad?) with Middle Tennessee Airstream? It's a heck of a lot closer to me than JC.

Insurance I presume?

No way to pop that ding. Because of the crease, the metal is stretched.
There is another solution which is reduce the dent as much as possible fill in the rest with Bondo and paint the whole dang trailer aluminum. It will look as good and last longer than clear coat. But the easier and cheaper (I think) is to replace the panel.

Hi Lance,

Hope you get to this one... Had a 43 foot pine fall on mine a few weeks back... Looked all over for a service center that could do the repair and do it right. Wound up taking her back to JC. They made the repairs and mine looks like new. (no kidding).

Here is the thing you have to know...

There are two ways to repair the pannels! The first is essentially a pop-rivet system. This is NOT how the units are built. They are "hard riveted" at the factory. If you don't have the unit returned to the factory and have the pannels removed (inside and out), you will NOT have matching rivets. That's all I needed to know and I was off to Ohio! I would strongly recommend that you call the customer service dept at AS in Jackson Ctr and ask for Chris. He is as passionate about the trailers as we all are. Further to the issue... he made certain the schedule was kept on my repair. Time was critical on my repair as we were leaving a few days later for a two week family vacation. Give him a call. You'll be very glad you did! Feel free to PM and I can give you more info if you'd like. Trust me.... DO NOT LET SOMEONE ELSE DO THIS REPAIR! This is a huge investment your talking about. Demnad having it repaired right... Best of luck!

Lance,

The place in Alabama you mention (if it's what I'm thinking of) supposedly does a good job. But of course, no one will top the Mother Ship.

I had a dent issue earlier this year...we will resolve it this fall:

Tennis…last week I went to Middle Tennessee Airstream to pick up my new International 27FB. Before starting the walk through I was informed by my sales person that during the prep of the unit a dent was discovered in the roadside rear panel just south of the tail light. Bummer!!! In any case I talked to the factory rep and was assured that the panel would be replaced and repair will be just like JC. I’ll be in the shop tomorrow to see how the repair is progressing…look for a posting from me. Good or bad.
