Don't look now but my 77 Overlander has a Suiaside (yup one of those) door also. The PO warned me about running with the door unlocked. I love that Blue POSI-LOCK. Will PM ya for a templet.

Sorry about the door.... totally understand.... been there, done that! Yikes! We lost our door on the Interstate ~ wound up at a WalMart making temp repairs so we could get back on the road. One thing to double check: if you haven't totally redone your door and put new rivets in the door hinges, do it! We lost our door even though our rivets looked great. The aluminum rivets go through a steel plate and weird corrosion occurs.

Hope you can repair your door (if you can't find an Airstream dealer, try a classic car or aircraft repair place that works on aluminum & rivets) Likely an aircraft repair will be easiest to find and they are very experienced with alum & rivets.

However, while we're on the subject, I have a complete spare door. The post-1974 extruded frame type, not the prior years cast frame type. It's from an Ambassador. If anyone out there needs a door...

Sorry about your door I hope it comes out OK. I guess for us NEWBIES its a learning curve thing. I thought I was being careful but I got a lesson in AWNING 101 the other day when I accidently left the awning deployed and a sudden TStorm caught me off guard .the wind ripped one of the Rafter arms off the awning and off the coach and threw it clear over the coach to the ground on the the Traffic side(left side) . I have been able to repair it.
Another lesson learned the hard way.

Well, if I were a NEWBIE it would be understandable. But I've been towing my dear little friend since 1999. I know better!

I tried suctioning the dent in the sidewall to no avail. It seemed to come out but slipped right back in no matter how many time I tried it.

MIGHT Help. Try a hairdryer - not a heatgun, and warm up the dent, suck it out and hold it until cool. It may stay out better.

What have I done

So, the Bambi is sitting outside because on the morning I left for my trip I did not push the garage door open high enough and bent it with the Airstream while pulling her out. Luckily, it did not hurt Bambi maybe just a little polishable blemish, but cannot open the door because I cannot get it back down. (Fixing tomorrow)

Why is this a big deal?

IT JUST HAILED FOR 15 MINUTES! 1/2 INCH IN SIZE OR MORE --- AND IT REALLY HURT.

I tried to get a moving blanket pulled over it. Hah! Try doing that in the driving rain.

So far it only looks like 2 or 3 small dents up high that no one else will probably notice.

Okay, enough whining.

Thanks everyone for the Karma, who knows what would have happened without it.

p.s. No water came in the bent door. Yay!

Oh me too me too....believe it or not - way up in the 2005's they made a suicide door.

A bit of a negative but then show me one AS out there that does not have some sort of quirk that does not fit the "perfect" ideal of a trailer when all of us are so so different and all have different needs and priorities. Either too big, too small - no counter space - too heavy, bad beds, not enough beds, no storage space, bad couch, worse dinette - layout layout layout.

For this 05 22' CCD Just too many other positives for us to worry about 2 small negatives. (Desk and Suicide Door) - desk is an easy fix and now I have found a piece of mind fix for the door - super!!!

So Yes Please I would love to get a template - I will PM you.

Yes, the suicide door was the answer for those who found that with the pull down awnings the door would not swing all the way open from the left to right. We had a 5th wheel with an awning and the door opened from the left. I was annoying not to be able to open the door completely. And that's the rest of the story.

Wish it were April already! With luck and a little help from my friends (is there a song there?) I can get it fixed long before that. Kip has offered his expertise it I can get up that at a time that is convenient for him. Hope he know what he may have bitten off
