Can you strip painted aluminum?

We've looked at a couple of older trailers recently that had both had the top half of the trailer painted with some sort of gray material. Has anyone had experience with this, or does anyone know if you can strip it and bring the original aluminum back?

Thanks!

Yes it can be stripped. Who knows what evil lurks below? It may have been rough sanded to prep the paint.

Yes but if it is an argosy at least some years the corners are steel and the middle is aluminum and depending on condition of the aluminum you may have several steps from sanding to buffing to bring it back I am in the middle of one now not hard just time consuming and to buff it correct a cyclo buffer is best

You can both STRIP and PAINT an Airstream.

I did both with my ARGOSY project:

A good paint job will far outlast polish. You can paint it in an Aluminum colour but why not be a leader and start a trend, one that Airstream itself might have long ago started themselves had they more imagination:

AIRSTREAMS in full, beautiful colour: Robin’s Egg Blue, Lemon Yellow, Key Lime Green ……
