Big Dent

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remove this dent? This Airstream belongs to sis in law, the dent was made by the previous owner. I know they won't be able to remove the dent entirely, they want it to just not look so bad!!

Thanks,
John

Remove the inner panel, probably the fiberglass cap, and roll an inflated basketball around the inside of the dent. re-seal the seams so it doesn't leak, and reinstall the inner cap or panel.

The Only way to improve the looks of that dent is to remove the inside end cap and work it out from there. The skin has so many eyebrows in the damage that I don't think it would be worth the time, but to each his own. Replacement is the best option.

Look under my threads. I had a similar damage, not as bad, and just did a cap over the top. I pleased with the results. You can get the material from any major airstream dealer for around $100.00 Take your time, make a templet out of cardboard like oaktag. I posted afew pictures in the thread. Good luck.

That is a compound curve skin so a flat sheet of metal will not help you much unless you have an English Wheel.

Panel replacement or panel overlay. There are creases in this that you may never get out, no matter how hard you try.

That trailer is a 64 to 68 model.

The front and rear 5 segments are all compound curves.

Some years ago, we bought all the remaining 68 and older segments that Airstream had in inventory.

We no longer have that particular segment available.

It will be necessary, should you choose to replace it, to use a segment from a 1969 and up model. It will fit reasonably well.

That segment sells in excess of $400.00, plus shipping.

After you remove the panel, pick the religious figure of your choice and sell it on ebay as a miraculous dent in the image of ________. You should more than cover your repair.
