I am going to be using Olympic, and pop rivets galore.
1952 Silver Streak Clipper. Inner skin replacement, belly pan, and at least 3 outer panels.
No bucked rivets.
Need a good air tool. Any one tried the $70 Harbor Freight one. Not the cheap $40 one.
Thanks,
Robert
Murphy must have been watching when I submitted that post...I went to use my air riveter last night, and the main valve was sticking, disassembled to find one of the rubber valve components shot, and no replacement in the kit of seals and spare parts that comes with the thing. What to do...
I've been using the 40 dollar one, hope Murphy doesn't get me cause it works pretty good. Definitely does better on the smaller 1/8" rivets than the larger ones, but even with occasional jams, its much faster overall and it saves the muscles in your hand.
I have been using the blue one from Harbor Freight, accomplished belly pan install with 3/8" big head rivets, shell install using 1/8" pop rivets and inner skin install using 1/8" rivets. The thing is still going, saved my hands for sure. Just watch that each discard shaft comes out, I didn't and had to take apart and fish out about 4 shafts stuck in line...it's easy just look down the barrel looking for daylight
