'77 31' IS mid bath front panel below window

Above AS has 2 battery boxes just outside of the frame rails. below the center front window. There is vent just below the window ~ 3" x 12" W. The aluminum panel between the battery box doors and just below the vent appears to be recessed approx 1". This recessed area appears too smooth to be a dent and the interior ribs seem to be placed to support the recessed area. Is this recessed as from the factory or a well applied accident / dent ? All the surrounding panels seem fine. The inner edges of both battery doors are going to be difficult to reinstall due to the curvature of the center panel. H E L P

Have a look at Janet's thread on photo posting. You'll find lots of good advice on how to do it there.

I expect there was something like a tire that was wedged behind there and it got hit during a jack knife event. This needs to be fixed because there is a steel hold down plate between those boxes that is probably bent or detached. I expect the coucho will have to come out and at least the front inside center panel. That area is important because it is the main structural attachment area where the shell attaches to the frame.

Here is a photo. You can see the steel plate between the box openings. To the outside of each box is also a bolt on the other side of the vertical stringer. This bolt needs to be intact and tight as well. I expect the stringers on the inside of the boxes are damaged as well as the outside ones. The panel looks like it may pop out once the structure under there is fixed.

Odd dent below front window

Not sure what caused the dent...Possible dropped front end off jack or block. To fix it...I realized there was too much metal from the bottom of the window down to the frame. I removed all the rivets below the window and down to the frame and between the battery doors. As I was removing the final few rivets the front metal "Dropped" slightly and the dent just about disappeared. Re-riveted and some to relocated holes and all seems well. Had to do something....There sis no apparent frame damage or bends in the frame. All seems plumb. But obviously something caused this movement. Thanks to all. Jim & Mitzi
