5052 Ok for exterior skin patches?

I need to replace a 40" X 40" panel to fix a tear in the skin on our '66 Sovereign. Locally sourced 2024 is an arm, leg plus my first and last born. 5052 in .032 is on the shelf at one of my local supply places at a reasonable cost (less than $2/sq. ft.).

Will this work ok?

On another note: 5052 4X8 sheets for the Argosy's belly pan are going to run about $45/ sheet in .025

If you are going to paint it white like the rest of the trailer it will be fine. It would be fine anyway just a slightly different color.

It's on my '66 Sovereign...not painting it.

Have you tried Aircraft Spruce?

Small size sheet doesn't seem excessive, but, I know sometimes shipping sheets drives the cost up significantly.

Price is decent...shipping is the killer. I can buy 2 4X10 sheets of 5052 locally for less than a 48" X 48" piece of 2024. Local aircraft companies wanted just as much...

5052 will polish just like the 2024.

That looks nice. Thanks for that. I mean, if 2024 were the 'only' way to go, I would suck it up and get it. But at nearly 4X the price and a one-stop shopping trip locally, I'll go with 5052.
