Wood used in '66?

Hello all,
Need to replace a small panel which abutts another panel. What veneers did AS utilize back then? I don't believe it's one of the usual suspects, oak, birch or maple and has a pretty wild grain. Looks little like ash grain but don't think I've seen ash with such wild grain. Any ideas,? Thanks for any and all,! Greg

When we renovated our 66 I took a piece of the cabinet to a shop for identification. He said it was Ash. The grain on what was available was different. Rift sawn on our existing, maybe. Since we planned on all new wood in the interior, we just went with red oak stained to match the existing color. Maybe find a species that the grain matches and play with the stain to match existing. Good luck. Bubba

Although it looks a lot like ash that's Elm. It was used a lot at that time and is always confused with ash. I worked for years in a veneer plant and know what you have.
