Wine Rack in the '78 Sovereign

I was wondering what to do with the storage aea above the Dometic - not too deep due to the air riser vent required next to the skin. I threw a bottle of grape juice up there while I was arranging things, then it hit me - Wine Rack!

Double click on photo for full size.

I took a cheapie wine rack from Bed, Bath, and Beyond ('cause that's the first place I found a cheap "disposable" wine rack) and cut it to fit above the Dometic. I was going to use a hole saw to manufacture the rack, but I found the racks already made for about what materials would cost.

To prevent the bottles from jumping out while travelling I took a piece of fine grained redwood, installed a couple of locking barrel bolts, and drilled matching receiver holes in the overhead cabinets.

Looks as if AS made the space just to fit 750 ml bottles of adult bliss.

Dennis, keep an eye on temps up there, wine doesn't like it too hot, and that area seems pretty warm on ours.
If it works, I know where to put our wine as well.

Temps -

I've got covered parking for the Sovereign, so the only time it will be in the sun is on "real" camping trips. Also, I have not as yet had an opportunity to use the gas burner on the Dometic reboiler - due to the definition of "camping" by "She Who Must Be Obeyed" I will forever be relegated to camping adjacent to a 110 volt plug in. Therefore, I do not think there will ever be any gas exhaust coming up the flue.

Good point on the temps, though.

All the better reason to make sure all of the bottles are cycled and emptied on a regular basis to make sure none exceeds it's "proper age of maturity".

Anyone know how many weeks a bottle of Mogan David 20/20 or Boone's Farm should be good for?

Actually, Tbird was a close third in the selection, with a light bouquet of Annie Greensprings rounding out the cellar's offerings.

This is no lie - I actually found a bottle of Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill in the shed last week.

I think I just realized what I am bringing to the gift exchange for this year's Blanco Christmas Rally gift exchange. 5th Annual Blanco, Texas Xmas Rally
