Where can I get cabinet/door hinges?

Got a 76 Sovereign and a Service Manual. I need hinges part numbers 380485 (2 sets) and 380486 (2 sets).
Previous owner tried to repair closet door and door under microwave with after market screws and even a rivet gun thus the hinges are bent and need replacing.

If these are not available what do most folks do for hinges, upgrade with heavier hinges?

The closet door is quite heavy and seems the hinges are overstressed in the first place.

Could also use tambour door for under sink????
If there is a better way to go please advise.

Try contacting Andy, a regular poster here, @ www.inlandrv.com or Out of Doors Mart @ www.outofdoorsmart.com and they just may be able to fix you up. Good luck.

Closet hinges breaking??

Of course they will.

The cause??

Lack of proper running gear balance.

Happens every time.

Hey Andy, I know that you're dead right about the reason and cause.
I figured you'd be in the Islands about now for your bi-annual.

Now what about those parts numbers.
BTW do part numbers change each year (for the same part)?

thanks

Part numbers rarely change, except when the original is no longer available, and a replacement is obtained.

In the case of the 2 airstream stock numbers, they are both obsolete many years ago, with no substitutes offered.

We then took the next step.

Andy

Hi Andy,

I looking for the same replacement hinges for my 76 Sovereign. What was the "next step" that you refer to, since these parts are obsolete and no substitutes offered. Thank you.

I searched till I found mine somewhere In California. I dont remember the supplier but they are available. I didnt get them from ANDY ,opps Sorry ANDY. I still have some left I think. I repaired the pantry/microwave door and I ordered enough to repair the closet doors if that happens. I think my bad axles had something to do with these hinges breaking.ANDY and I took care of that.

Andy,

Have they made these hinges stronger than they used to be? Im torn between replacing the originals, or just buying some piano hinges that will surely be strong enough.

What do you think?

I love how Andy turns a hinge replacement into a 1300.00 axle replacement or balancing BUT he's right. I live in a mid century modern house and these knife hinges held up over 50 years. Why not so in a Airstream that gets used a few times a year?! PROPERLY BALANCED RUNNING GEAR. Explained simply if you don't get it..what does your washer tell you when the load is to heavy on one side and why does it shake the whole house? Imagine wheels and axles doing the same thing to your nicely riveted AS!!!!

This occurred last summer when my wife left the door open before we hit the road with the trailer. (I pulled it all the way from central arkansas to Colorado springs without any issue). From what I have read, my axles are going to need to be replaced in a few years, but they aren't in really bad shape right now. Is it still really likely that it is bad axles right now that caused it?

Pardon my ignorance, cause I have to say I probably know less about my axles and running gear than any other part of the trailer. If it is the axles despite the fact that the closet door got left open, I would rather know now than later.

Stream on

The open door certainly didn't help. Read Andy's article on dura torque axles. Everything you need to know and you might be able to assess the axle life yourself. He's posted it here many times but its also on inlandrv's website
