The hinges are very delicate for the weight of the doors on my 81 Excella. They are 3/4 MDF and are heavy. Sal

The original hinges are fine.

But, they can be destroyed when owners do not do the PM's that are necessary.

The following list is what causes the hinges to break.

1. Bad rubber rods in the axles.
2. Improper or no running gear balance.
3. Excessive rated hitch bars.
4. Excessive rated tow vehicles.

May, many owners are still using the same hinges, without any problems.

Vibration, can destroy most anything.

Installing heavier duty hinges only delays the issue of ridding the coach of any and all vibrations.

Most solutions are based on what was the cause of the problem.

I would suggest that you address the vibration issues.

And certainly, a cabinet door flying open and closed for a trip, would most likely destroy most hinges.

The other issue of using piano hinges, is simple looks.

But, the bottom line is always up to the owner.

Andy

Andy

Just got back from 4 month tour of the NW..... new axles, brakes tires etc, performed as expected. Only problem was hubcaps shearing off valve stems. Am replacing them all with metal valve stems.

On the trip home from Moab, I had hung a towel over the closet door of our 31' 1978 Sovereign and didn't shut the door completely.

I-70 is rough! and bouncy.... broke the hinge... Andy, do you still have these hinges?

Thanks> btw, now that I am back, I will be shipping those shocks back to you.

Jim
