Tambour door puzzle

My 1975 Sovereign has a 2' high tambour cabinet door below the stovetop that opens leftwards to access the gas furnace. Over the years it has become harder to open and now only moves a few inches. The 'box' that it rolls into is surrounded by cabinetry and I can't see how to access it easily. How do I fix or restore this roll-sideways door?

Spray the slides with silicone.

We found ours works better if when opening you push near the bottom of the door and closing pull from near the top.That is after the silicone spray

Thanks for that good advice! I will try silicone (or graphite) and see how it goes when I get back to her in the Spring.

We are having the same problem. I would like to remove the tambour door but I have no idea how to access the "box" it rolls in to. Does anyone have any advice?
