We found these, after seeing them in a refurbished Avion.

Strybuc Industries 829c, carried at rvpartsmonster.com and rvupgradestore.com.

They are sturdy and heavy, although the screws are about twice as long as we dare use.

Thanks, but I think they both are too big. I am going to use it exactly as it's used in the picture.....mounted on the edge of a 3/4" shelf to hang mugs. I found some at Lowes that I can mount underneath, but I really like the looks of this one (David Winick did it in his Caravel & I love it!)

Then perhaps this one?

Seachoice Utility Hook - 567261, Boat Hardware at Sportsman's Guide

The size says 1"1", but since those dimensions include the hook itself, not just the plate, I think it might mount to a " wooden rail. And with two screws side-by-side, it might be stronger, too.

I think you are looking for this: Perko 1249DP0CHR Latching Utility Hook*-*Perko*1249DP0CHR - Utility Hooks - Marine Hardware - Galley/Cabin - Boatersland Marine .

They are not stainless steel, but are marine grade chrome-plated zinc.

Are those the famous "Byum" hooks? If so, they are actually razor strop hooks.

Becky,

My question is what are you going to hang on it and what is the shelf made of? I saw you want to hang mugs and they aren't very heavy (unless they are made of pewter and no one wants those). Big beer mugs aren't too light either.

If the shelf is made of fiberboard, screws don't hold very well in that and will tend to back out by themselves while traveling. If it is plywood, the wood will hold a screw better and solid wood is best. There is thread locker to make sure the screws stay in.

A hook that has 2 screws is better than one.

Command hooks are good for sticking on just about anything, but they have an adhesive strip that is too long for your use unless they make a really small one. They are available at lots of places (we got 'em at the Container Store) and come in brushed metal.
