Slideout Pantry latch

I am having a recurring problem with the black plastic push button latch on the slideout pantry. I have just ordered the 4th replacement in 10 years. I cannot seem to find a suitable substitute(one made of something stronger) so am locked in to the flimsy Airstream part. The latch has gone from $12.00 to $20.00 since I have been replacing them. My question is this: Has anyone found a suitable replacement or solved the problem some other way?

Exclamation pantry latch

Not knowing how your pantry is set up ,I have an idea that might work. I took the drawers out of my 86 sovereign and installed a small slide out pantry. To hold it in place when traveling I attached a small cable to the floor of the compartment and put a snap clip on the end. When we travel I jut clip it to a hole I drilled in the bottom shelf. Good luck

Joel,

Would it be possible to post a photo of your fix?

Not sure that your pantry latch is the same on the '04 - mine is not plastic but instead a metal latch.... pull up then you slide the pantry shelves out... its an IKEA part.... might be a good place to look at if there is one near you.....

Hey Jody, thanks for the post...I was gearing up to get some fix in place for my soon to be '04 until I read your post....perhaps they found out about it and corrected the issue.

One less thing to have to deal with!

Eric
