Unhappy Medicen Cabinets [71' INt]

In my 1971 27' Int. Overlander the medicin cabinet mirror frame above the sink needs repair. The mirror and the mirror frame is loose. To repair the frame, the mirror and frame will have to be removed. The piano hinge that holds the frame and mirror is riveted to the frame and the end cap of the trailer. Now I can drill out those revits but they are only in the plastic/fiberglass material the end cap is made of! With no metal backing I am worried that the new revits will not 'grip' the material well or pull through the plastic.... Any suggestions on repairing the frame?? Tom

New holes

I would re-rivet the hinge in the old holes and then drill additional holes between the old holes for some additional rivets.

Pop rivets are cheap!

Washers

Washers on the back of the rivets will prevent pulling though the old holes.

Olymipic rivets will definitely not pull out.

Medicin Cabinets

Thanks John for your advise. I am really worried about the plastic holding a pop rivet, don't know what kind were used before and if there is backing in the back. No way to get in back. Ttom
