Replacing formica counter with corian

Can an experienced cabinet maker remove our laminate counters and replace with corian or do they need to specialize in RV's? How much might I expect to pay?

No need for an RV specialist. Home Depot or Lowes can do it. I had a buddy get corian put in his boat.

I took the old counter tops out my self and took them to a counter top shop and they fabricated new ones. When they were done I reinstalled the new corian ones myself. They are held in place with a good grade of clear silicon caulk. They have stayed in place for 4 years and about 5000 miles of towing. I would post pictures if I could figure out how. We have about $1200 in ours. Included are the kitchen. bathroom, nightstand between beds, the piano shaped across from door and the small fold down table beside door, along with molded corian sins in kitchen and bath. The shop that did the work had a lot of smaller pieces of the color we liked so they gave that to us. the only pieces we had to buy was for the kitchen and the two sinks plus the labor. Part of the agreement was before and after pictures that they still display in their showroom.

We had ours done by Home Depot. They will not provide a warranty, but after 2 1/2 years, no problems.

Replace Formica? Never ! Long may it live, especially Boomerang and Cracked Ice. Lost in the 60's.

Just saw a new Serenity(2014) at a rally where the Corian had a big chunk that fell off. Warranty will fix or replace that for them but it could not happen that way with formica. We had a similar problem with Corian in our home and that was repaired with epoxy, but you could always barely see the repair line. I am not a big fan of Corian.

The microwave and range hood hadn't been reinstalled in that picture. Corian probably does weigh a little more, but not enough to worry about. We removed the spice cabinet and foldable countertop extension, so probably weight neutral.

Remember corian will melt or be damaged when hot pans are set on it or anything that is hot. We were at a b&b when host left electric fry pan on counter all nite & forgot to turn off next morn pan was in bottom of cab. I had all laminate replaced in my home with granite, this priced about same as corian. Now granite is less expensive than corian. I have worked with laminate, corian, wood now have granite. Wood can be charred granite chips easily and laminate will chip and hot pans will damage it, so all materials can be damaged if abused
