Replacing dinette with reclining sofa

Hi everyone❗️We are getting really close to our purchase but still waivering on our choice so as to not buy something we want to trade. Can anyone advise on the removal of the dinette from a newer model 27 ft international and replacing with a reclining sofa similar to the new classics. If possible, can we use an aftermarket sofa of our choice (that fits) and are most securable to the floor? We have sat at the dinette and don't think that's a longterm comfort item but we love dual panos

sheriff1, great mod, did you move the furnace to gain the leg room? That is the usual problem putting sofas or recliners in the rear dinette models, no legroom. The exception may be the Eddie Bauer models which have the furnace positioned farther ahead.

I did move the heater forward to the same location as the EB. I used a factory cargo door to fill in where the heater was.

That looks awesome. We have a 2013 - 30' International and been toying with rearranging the seating area with recliners. My wife wants both the recliners and to hang onto the storage area under the current seating arrangement. I haven't been able to figure that out.

if you pull that dinette and cushions please PM me. I'd buy them for a reasonable (whatever that is may be open to discussion, of course)

I have a 2014 FC 27'. I have removed the dinette; curb side seating with drawer, table and bench on road side. I have replaced the table and benches with 2 Euro Recliners. I I'll be selling the benches and table but have not determined a price.
I may also remove the remaining 66" bench and consider similar counter and storage as shown in the previous photo.

Sheriff1. How difficult was it to move the furnace.? Did you have someone do it for you?
We have 2 recliners and plan to build in storage next to the road side recliner. My wife has recliner love seat envy.

I hate to scare you but unless you are quite handy this involved some kind of scary things.
The easy part was the removal of all seating and table. Then the fun begins... You have to move the entire furnace forward. This involves cutting about a 1' by 2' hole in the side of the RV. You need to locate the next space forward between the wall studs as you don't want to mess with them. That puts your heater right next to the rear edge of the fender. You will find a duct hose that goes into the floor right at the furnace, you can push it down into the floor cavity and drill a hole the same distance forward as you have moved the furnace( careful to miss the aluminum floor joist) and route the duct through the joist to the new hole. The propane line will swing to new position. Use care not to kink it. Patch the old 5" hole. There is no vinyl flooring under the existing location of the furnace so I ended up doing LVT through the whole trailer. I tried to patch the wood look vinyl and found Airstream has changed the pattern on the flooring slightly and the planks are nowhere close to lining up. Then you will need to decide how to fill the old hole where the furnace came from. I used an Airstream factory cargo compartment hatch. About $300 as I recall. It comes without weatherstripping. I just removed the speaker under the seat. The laminate for the cabinets is available from Lowes in sheets. Probably best to engage a cabinet maker for cabinets and drawers. The table top and new countertop are solid surface made by LG, same stuff as corian about $1500 for both.
This is an extensive project and not for the faint of heart. Not knowing your skill level and access to proper tools makes me think that If you tackle it I would suggest you know where you could have a professional finish the hard bits and realize it will probably be quite expensive .
I will say in our case it was worth it.
Best of luck and keep me posted!
Vern

Thanks. Your narrative is helpful. I do have someone who can do the necessary work as I cannot. Did you put the new flooring over the old?

Filled in the missing piece with the patch I intended to use, removed all cabinets that didn't go to the ceiling and installed the flooring. Reinstalled the cabinets on top of new flooring and had the new solid surface counter tops made.

I am meeting in the morning with the person who will move the furnace and install the hatch door. Follow that I'm meeting Wednesday with a cabinet person. If possible will you share the dimensions of the base cabinet:
outside of furnace cabinet to the refrigerator. I have the approximate and will field measure after the furnace is moved. Thanks much
Cheers.

Bar stools were purchased at TJ Max. They had several varieties similar to these, all adjustable height. They are wide base enough to just ride in place. The counter tops are like corian but made by LG. LG HI Macs as I recall. Flooring is Shaw Forte. Not affected by water and minimal expansion / contraction.

Hello sheriff1. We have an 08 FB and want to do the same thing with euro recliners or sofa like what you have. Is that the same sofa that AS is putting in the new classics?

Our new remodel on our 2016 27FB Flying Cloud

We have just finished our customization of our 2016 27FB Flying Cloud thanks to all the useful information especially from sheriff1. The trailer is now so much more comfortable and we have added cabinet space too.
