Replacing cabinet latches

Have a newly purchased 65 Safari with the original cabinet latches, most of which need a little work. I'm thinking of replacing them with a knob over the hole where the original ones currently are, and then installing a new latch in another location. Is this feasible? The original ones have a round knob with pointed metal piece that inserts into a hole and catches. Turn the knob and they release. They're OK for me, but driving my wife crazy because they aren't lined up properly, are missing a spring or are just worn out. Any ideas??

there's a standard latch available at RV parts places that is mounted on the back side of the door, with an extensible tongue. The tongue is activated via a pull knob mounted on a threaded rod/screw, via a thru-hole, on the front of the door. I have surface doors, not flush, so I went another way, but these look promising for the next set of cabinets.

Contact flyfisher. He found those latches brand new. I think that they are the ones you are talking about. Maybe you could post a picture to make sure? We love pictures!

Chris,
If you replace your original knobs I'd like to purchase your old ones for my 64.

Thanks, Safari64
