Replacement Captains Chairs w Shoulder Harness

We have an 1993 Airstream Legacy, in which the Pilot & Co-Pilot Seats are about worn out. We saw an attractive sale on Flexsteel replacemnets in the recent CampersWorld sale catalog and are/were considering them. However, our older unit has regular seat belts - that do not include shoulder harnesses. On the forum it was suggested that we consider replacement seats that have 3 point seat belt/shoulder harness combinations as an intregal part.

Does anyone know of a source for such?

Flexsteel makes them but when I called Flexsteel to find out how to get some I was told that they only sell them OEM not for the aftermarket. The reason is they can not be certain that the mounts are strong enough in an aftermarket application.

That said, you can find them on ebay and at RV Surplus places.

Well, no matter what seat you install with shoulder straps, you need an anchor point for the shoulder strap. Where would that be? I don't think the aluminum behind the seats is strong enough to hold anything unless you put a big re-enforcement plate behind it and that would be on the outside of the coach. Otherwise you're just attaching it to the seat back.

The flexsteel seats bolt to the floor, nothing else. Obviously they have a very rigid frame which transfers all the force to the floor. I think this is why the company won't sell them aftermarket.

Now that I think of it, the shoulder straps on my Yukon XL come out of the seat back and the only attachment is the seat to the floor.

Regarding fitting normal shoulder harness to the standard seats - at least one member here did it. Newkid64 I think. He attached the harness to the main rib that runs right behind the the seat. There used to be pictures of this on this site but I couldn't find them the last time I looked.
