Recliner installation

Have a couple recliners on order. For those that have installed recliners how did you fasten them to the floor? I was thinking of using a couple of 1/4-20 hanger bolts and using some knobs to to make removal easy.

Thanks,
Bill

Since mine is in the front of the trailer, I did not fasten it and it stays put. I know of others with FB models and I don't recall them saying theirs were fastened. Maybe one of them will chime in soon.

You definitely want to anchor the recliners to the floor. How you attach them depends on the type of frame the chair has at the bottom. On the recliners that I installed the the frame was made from metal tubing about 1/2" round. So I used insulated pipe clamps like the one show here wrapped around the frame tubing at all four corners and screwed in to the floor.

The recliners stay exactly where I put them and are wall away recliners so I was able to place then close to the front window to save space as shown below.

I removed half of my dinette seating and the table. Installed some carpet over the flooring and simply put the recliner rocker in place. No attachments necessary in my opinion.

Don, The insulated pipe clamps look like a good possibility as well. Will see what the base looks like when they arrive and make a decision then. Since we have FB definitely need them fastened down.

Thanks,
Bill

These are easy to work with and come in different sizes and will conform to fit tubing and other types of frame material. I have never unbolted the claims or had to move my recliners and just raise the foot rest to clean underneath. Post some pictures when you have them installed.

We never secured ours and never had a problem with them moving. If you bolt them down how do you clean under and behind.

How about some non-slip fabric under them. Then something like an eye bolt near the wall, or under the chair, with a sturdy bungee threaded through and hooked to each underside of the recliner. Sounds crude but could be done nicely.

We have a 25FB and put a recliner in the rear corner of the trailer by the door (took out part of the dinette). Our recliner is the type with a round base made of wood. I ordered the optional riser (about 2" high) and attached that to the floor with lag screws. The recliner sits on the riser and I have some straps of velcro which hold it to the rail on the top of the riser. I do believe those people with recliners in the front of their trailers are at less risk of recliner movement (especially when on carpet) that those of us with recliners in the rear of the trailer. I think the rear has more movement than the front. Russ

Thinking about pulling out the L seat sofa and putting in two recliners. I have yet to see a single post from anyone who hasn't enjoyed them. Granted, I'll lose some sleeping space, but gain a comfortable place to sit!

Recliner install

My La-Z-boys had a flat metal strap with 3 holes pre-drilled. I just ran 2 1" wood screws in each strap. As far as cleaning the backs pull up and off easy. I push the seat forward and vac under. I also built the corner storage/end table units. See attached photo.

Mine are on carpet at the front of the trailer and they have never moved in about 5 years of travel.
