removing 1964 large knob catches . . .
This is from memory, which occasionally fogs up, so I may have the direction incorrect. Therefore, go gently at first! Now then, on this second type of catch with the larger knob, try gently unscrewing the knob by turning it counter-clockwise. It should soon come off. Then you can push that knobless shaft through to the rear side of the door. Job done.
