Plastic trim in bathroom
Can anyone tell me where I can find replacement plastic trim that covers the rivets in the aluminum trim around the edge of the bathroom cabinet and extending into the shower?
This is from a 74 Tradewind rear bath.

Inland RV. I bought 70' of it from Andy.
They call it "insert nosing".

I asked Inland about it last week and they said it was no longer available. I need some as well for my 68 Trade Wind. Please let me know if you find a source, I have not had any luck.

Insert nosing, is still available. All of our people know that.
You need a different material, since it's a 68, but it is not available and it is not insert molding.
You need a metal molding.

While everyone is on the topic Andy. What about the trim in a 71 - it appears to be a snap over molding. The Mothership had nothing the last time I was there.....

I believe this is also Inland's "insert nosing".

And,
Is 71411 a two piece molding? The trim molding on my 68 is not metal and it is original. It is a white plastic 2 piece trim. Bottom trim is flat, rivets go through it, and a top cover snaps on to hide the rivets. Does that sound like 71411?

No it doesn't.
Our part is a one piece "nosing" insert.
It slides into a metal molding.

Andy,
thanks for the part number - it's not what we have. The bath trim does actually snap over the metal track on the wall - except where it runs the wall just above the toilet. That part is adhered and then has a rivet in each end. If you look at my images you can see the trim in question. the track is flat against the wall with outward sloping edges \______/ The trim snaps over those sloping edges.
Appreciate any thoughts.....

Well guess what?????
Good news and bad news.
The good news is that we have a 71 here and we saw what you need.
The bad news is that it's been history for many many years.
Sorry.
You could upgrade by using the new style molding with the new style insert nosing, if you so desire.

Well poooey. Appreciate all the effort. If I decide to change out I'll give you a call to see what we can put together. All I need is about a foot in good condition (until the rest crumbles from age).
Say ..... that 71 you have there.....
thanks again.....

FYI: I believe Inland Andy is on hiatus temporarily.
Nope I think its only that ugly off white. I've decided to try a new application using patterned shelf liner cut into strips and inserted. Others have used strips of vinyl flooring. The other option would be vinyl edgebanding cut to the correct width, which comes in unlimited color options.
I will post the outcome after I attempt mine.

You could try some wood-grain contact paper cut into strips. I don't guarantee how it'll look, but it's an option.

Where would one get vinyl edgebanding? What is it used for? I had thouoght about heavy vinyl wallpaper, cut into strips. I saw some that would work but I didn't want to pay $24 a roll for it! Maybe vinyl car upholstery?

Problem solved!
After searching for an (inexpensive) solution to the brittle, crumbling vinyl inserts in my bathroom trim, I finally solved it! I went to my local venetian blind store, and got a slat of vertical blind in the color I wanted (navy blue, in my case, to match curtains and upholstery), cut it into strips with a sharp pair of scissors, and inserted the strips into the channels in the trim. Perfect! The slats come in 16' lengths, at $1.50 per 8', and I got one slat, which gave me 3 16' strips, more than enough for my bathroom, and while I was at it, I also replaced the strip at the top of the cabinet over the dinette in the front, which matches my curtains perfectly! Cost for the whole thing: $3 plus tax. Time to replace: about an hour, including time cutting the strips.
Now to re-caulk the shower. Some PO had caulked with silicone, and when that wasn't enough, apparently, caulked over it with what looks like window putty, or maybe it's white vulkem or sikaflex. Didn't do a good job, either. It was a gooey, globby mess.

Here are pictures of the new trim insert. If you look carefully, you can see (or maybe not, which is a good thing) where I also fixed the toilet---with-- --duct tape. The rim was all cracked and broken, so I took a sharp knife and trimmed off the broken plastic. I have a roll of duct tape that is white with beige stripes, and wrapped it around the broken plastic rim. It is hard to see that it is there, even in good light, and it covers the cracks very completely; if it begins to look shabby, well, I have a BIG roll of the stuff!
