Overhead cabinet lighting effect like CCD?

I'd like to get the same lighting effect as I've seen in the CCD series (Bambi). Anyone know how to do it? See photo.

In the original ones, they just used the same puck lights as in the open overhead - the orange interior formica on the bottom of the cabinet causes the color.

If I were doing it now, I'd definitely use LCD's to keep the heat down. Rope lights along the bottom front of the cabinet are also a good idea. You could just paint the interior instead of putting in formica.
