My Stupid Question of the Day.-sink covers

What is the purpose of the covers over the sinks? I see that almost every travel trailer has them, but I don't know why.

They are used for:

1: Additional counter space for putting away the grocies, preparing meals etc...
2: Hide dirty dishes
3. Hide Storage Items - the sinks I use to put delicate glasses and such into with towels etc to keep from bouncing aroun.

Sometimes they can make a good improvision for a drum set if you haven't had enuf sleep or drunk to much.

Your imagination is the only limit to what they can be used for

Only stupid answers!

I would use mine as a cutting board ... if it was over 35 years old and not replaceable with an original without searching and or paying lotsa coin (i'm sure.)

The two trailers we owned had the sink covers. Jody hit on the main things we used ours for.

Also, a maple cutting board was attached to the back of the sink covers.

Of course, I worry enough about bacteria (I've had food poisoning TWICE!!) that I won't use a wooden cutting board for food preparation. But they make great trivets for hot pans coming right off the stove.

Hey friend when they outlaw stupid questions I'll have no further purpose in life...at least not in cyber-life!

So here's mine; Do these things clip down or is it just gravity keeping them in place on the road?

Perhaps an early Wallyite....maybe even Mrs. Wally devised these as a parlor game for those cold nites on the road.
Here's the layout.
Couple sit on the gaucho and toss coins at the two holes on the boards/covers. Nearest hole = 10 points (it's harder) Further hole = 5 points. Winner gets to decide what to play with next. Loser pulls out gaucho and keeps all coins.

BTW the game was called Titdeley-Sinks

First, it is gravity that hold them in place combined with the inch and a half thick cutting board attached to the back.

As far as Titdeley-Sinks goes, we never got bored during those cold nights on the road. Of course, we've only been married 18 years and don't have kids.
