moving mattress

We just returned from a great 3,000 mile, 6 week trip. Everything worked great. However, almost every time we pulled into the next campground the mattress on the back queen bed was way off the platform. What is the secret of keeping it in place while on the road?

The type of rubber used between dishes to keep them from moving around when you travel is available by the roll, is very inexpensive, and works very well. Just place it between the mattress and the wood base and the mattress will not move around anymore. You could also use the similar type of product on the market for under area rugs and cut it to fit.

Hi, to hold my mattress in place I have two luggage straps, the ones with the plastic, snap together, buckles; I sewed one to the back side/center of the mattress and screwed the other end to the bed platform. This keeps the bed from sliding to the back of my trailer. The other strap, I sewed to the bottom/foot end of the mattress and screwed the other end of this strap to the bed platform. This keeps the mattress from sliding to the curb side of my trailer. These straps hold the mattress to the night stand and the interior wall at the head of the bed. If I need to remove my mattress, I lift it up slightly and un-fasten the two buckles.

Note: for orientation purposes, my trailer is a rear/sideways queen.

I used the rubber like Sharlene on the Excella twin beds and it has worked well. We do not have this problem with the Caravel.
