Making 2 twin beds into a king bed in a trade wind

Have a 1971 trade wind with mid cabin twin beds.. We would like to add a slide in piece of wood, in between then two beds, that we could then add a foam piece to and then we would have a king size bed. I would then slide it out when not in use, so we could have access to the bath, http://www.lowchensaustralia.com/health/diet4.htm without crawling over the bed. Has anybody done this?? What kind of material would work so it wouldn't be too heavy?

A good friend of mine who is also a Forums member did exactly what you are proposing and may be able to give you some pointers on how he handled the project. I believe that it was modest in cost and considered a success. You can try contacting Scot S.

Good luck with your project!

Kevin

You can see how Marcus (utee93) did it in his 63 Overlander here;
