locking mech. for drawer under sofa/bed

Has any one got a better idea for locking the drawer under the sofa in a 1988 excella? You have to lift up the sofa on mine to lock it in place while traveling. THANKS

Hey Shoulder,
Welcome to the forums.
Have you tried traveling without latching it? We have been many thousands of miles in our '88 and have never found the drawer open when we got anywhere. I've never latched it. Mine doesn't open that easy normally and maybe that helps.
Aside of that, your options for keeping it locked externally are to put some sort of latch on the outside that would have to connect to the floor and would always be kicked or bumped while sitting at the gaucho/table.
Good luck,

We have the same kind of mechanism and situation. It always slides out as we are motivating down the road.
We have seen some of them changed to the outside front of the couch. Same mechanism but moved. They mount it so that it is under the skirt (material) on the front of the couch. A small hole the same diameter as the locking shaft is drilled into the floor to lock it down. Then you do not have to lift the couch to engage it.

Check out Lee Valley #00K12.01 travel latch.
RV suppliers also have similar latches.
I added a drawer where the oven was and needed something like this.
In the end, our daughter had extra child proof drawer stops, so I used that. It works.
