Gaucho Question '78 Excella

The seat back on my front gaucho tilts back to far!!! I started tearing into it and found the P.O. had Mickey Moused the brackets that support the seat back to the front wall. The piviting arm is supposed to pivit on shoulder screws. He had replaced these with threaded bolts and the threads in the bolts had gouged out the holes in the support arm (or so I thought). I purchased some shoulder screws and and some 3/8" X 1" bar stock to replace the original thin channel. The original channel I pulled out had holes at 11" between centers, so I cut my bar stock at 12 1/2" and drilled and tapped it at 11" and 11 1/2" between centers. I installed the arms using the 11 1/2" between centers and guess what---no change. I should have calculated what the change would be when I added the extra 1/2', but I didn't . 87MH (Dennis) has an ongoing thread here '78 31' Sovereign (I wished I knew how to type "click here" and it sends you to the specified thread). In post 33 he shows pictures (1st picture) of the support arm I am talking about. BTW Dennis, great thread and I love the way you use a tape measure in your pictures. It appears that the holes would be about 14 1/2 to 15" between centers.
If anybody can get me the actual dimensions for this arm before I buy, cut and ruin any more of this bar stock, it would be much appricated. Thank You ...."Mac"
