Edge banding tape
Does anyone have a source for the edge banding tape used im late model Airstreams?
I've had to re-heat the edging to glue it down in several spots. Sooner or later I'm going to need new edging. Any ideas?

You mean the inside stuff around the table and counter tops T-moulding or the stuff around the outside bumper/belly trim?

It's called the rub rails for the outside if that's what you need, and it depends on the width you need.
You can get what you need at Out-Of-Doors Mart.

Tape Ease sells the stuff but you have to buy a big roll of it.

Since you know how to do the heating (I assume with an iron or similar tool), you might be able to avoid having to replace the edge banding. A little hot-melt glue put into the open areas before heating and pressing into place will often help adhesion.

It's the edging around the cabinets that I need. Thanks for the sources listed above but I still can't find and exect match.
I think I'll try Airstream and see what they want for the edge band.
I'll post an update when I learn more.

A photo of what you are trying to find a replacement for would help.

I contacted Airstream and they no longer have the edge banding used in my trailer. It's a wood look edge banding. I've got a 2008 trailer so it is not that old.
I looked at the new trailers and they have switched to a plain white edge banding material that matches the counter tops.
It seems that I only have the choice of replacing the edge banding with a new color or keep repairing the loose edge banding that I have now.
Long term, I'm going to have to replace all of the edge banding with something new. This could be white plastic, a metal look banding or a real wood banding. Any sugestions as to what would look the best?

Does the edge banding have a part that fits in a groove or does it just glue to the edge?

It glues to the edge on ours( 2006) but I believe they used the kind you have to heat up. There is a brand fast band that you don't need to heat up.

All the newer trailers have the glue on heat activated type banding. It come with an adhesive that must be heated to make it stick.
Our older trailer had the T type molding that glued into a groove cut into the counter edge. Even older trailers had an aluminum edging that was tacked onto the counter edge. Go back even further and they used real wood edging that was nailed and glued into place.
Some replacement edge banding comes as "self-adhesive". This is not a very good product and comes loose easily. Some is heat activated. Some has no adhesive and you have to use contact cement to glue it into place.
My wife likes the retro look of the aluminum edging but it collects crud were the edging meets the counter top. She suggested that I use a metalized edge banding to give the retro look without the gap to collect crud.
What do you think?

I've ordred some chrome edge banding. I'm going to try it out on the fold up table. I'll post some before and after pictures when I'm done with the table.

What and where did you order it? That is one thing I'd like to do to ours. I've seen a lot of different brands and curious which one will work the best.
Thanks

You might try a stainable edgebanding. You can finish it to match the existing material. Looks like wood.

Let's hope that the original posters didn't wait 5 years for this suggestion.
Tim
PS It happens to be a good suggestion!

It can be ordered from Airstream, look in the parts manual for your unit. It can be found on Airstream website
