Couch in Excella 29’

Have been considering replacement of the front couch (with chairs) in our subject AS. This might result in requiring battery box and converter changes and less than a perfect fit to allow comfort at our fold-up tables.

Has anyone found a way to have the existing couch renovated (support, padding and upholstery) to make it more comfortable?

If your couch is the same jackknife couch as in my 93 I found it very uncomfortable to sleep on. I checked out replacing it with RV fold out couches but ended up putting in a futon.

Had your twin.. I took out jack-knife sofa and replaced with a Home Theater set with 2 recliners. Was able to shorten the cabinet with the table and did not have to relocate converter to gain clearance.

Did you have fold-up tables on both sides as we do?
Yours looks great and also comfy!

And, do you recall the brand/model of the theater seating?

Here is the one I put in my '82 Excella 34' to replace the torture device Airstream calls a Gaucho:

RecPro Charles 67" Double RV Zero Wall Hugger Recliner Sofa w/ Console Mahogany (Furniture & Decor)
Sold by: RecPro™

It's been installed over a year and looks and feels like new.

Update?

what did you end up doing? we also have your twin, minus a floor right now and every other thing there used to be in there! I have been looking at a few options and since we won't be using the battery boxes have a little more leeway but would love to see/hear what you've done! Thanks!

We have been slow to get at this, but are currently in the process of completely refurbishing the original couch.
Bough all new (and far better) foam, batting and upholstery fabric and have the bare couch frame in our garage.
Thus far, have cut all of the foam to size, glued two layers together for the seat(a 3” firm and topped by a 2” softer). The back is a single 3” ply of a medium soft.
Today, we begin the actual upholstery covering with the batting and fabric. Use hog rings for the seat base attachment to underside of the frame and staples for everything else (back, arm bolsters, drawer front and side panels beneath arm bolsters).
Going well and believe we will be quite happy.
Will post pics when finished.
