Center Pull out Bed Rails

We have an issue with our center bed in our '62 Ambassador. One of the rails has split and does not work properly. I see that VTS and Airstream sell the hard wood slides which we have, but I was wondering if anyone has done a modification that uses a steel sliding mechanism similar to a drawer. The wood rails work but are not the easiest to use.

I have searched and did not come up with anything.
