Can I relocate the gaucho?

We have just purchased our first AS (1988 Excella 32') and I need input from more knowledgeable folks.

It has the swing tables and we would like to build in a dinette. This leaves us with the dilemma of the gaucho. Can I relocate it? Along one of the walls? I know this may sound crazy. If I do an L shaped dinette and slide the gaucho (or other type sofa) along the wall I could have both.

Being a newbie I'm confident I have no clue whether this is feasible or the best solution....

The 1988 Excella was available in two models, one with a dinette and one without. Your vision is greatly affected by what you start with and how much of the trailer you want to change. It helps a lot if you have the tools and know how to build custom components. There are plenty owners who have changed their floor plan.

Here is an example from an Ambassador.

This Excella thread may have something close to what you describe.

Our Excella does not have the dinette, just the side fold out tables. My delimma is whether to keep the gaucho and reupholster, factoring the cost of that I'm thinking I could just add a small sleeper sofa.

I do have a friend who is willing to build the dinette for me. And we would love a dinette even if it's small.

I noticed in the thread you shared that they moved the gaucho along the other wall, and left off the side pieces, is it stable enough without them?

Thanks for the ideas....
