I purchased a brown cabinet latch for my 72 trailer, from Jackson center over a year ago, just went to install last night and while the part looks the same it doesn't quite fit in the cabinet door, it was late so I did not troubleshoot too much, the airstream part# is 201148-1
Anyone else have experience with install of this latch, also anyone have tricks to get spring in the latch I like the latch but sometimes they stick and
if pulled too hard to get open they come apart.

Airstream used that catch for the 71 to 74 trailers.
That same mold that made the original catches, is still in use today.

anyone else have problems with the replacement 71 - 74 brown cabinet latches. Andy I see you say the used the same mold, but there is an extra lip on the now latches from Jackson center, they don't slide well.
Anyone do any mods on these latches or replace with something on the back of the door that will leave the original latches intact?
The originals either open too easily, while driving or very difficult to open.

Airstream does not have that latch, since we have the original mold.
I think since your having a rare problem, then it has something to do with your Airstream, that is far diiferent from thousand of other owners.
Some of the issues can be as follow.
Bad axles
Lack of proper running gear balance
Excessive rated hitch bars
Excessive rated tow vehicle.
The black latch has moved out of posiition.

Sorry, but that cabinet latch has been history for 48 years.
Best you can do is try to find a used one from a salvaged unit.
Many owners switch to the cabinet latch that was used in the 67 t0 70 models.
All that needs to be done is make a notch in the side of the cabinet door.

Correction
Airstream does have the mold for the 71-74 latches.
We have it for the 67-70 trailers.
Sorry.
