Build dinette for 2005 Safari

I am wanting to remove my couch in the front of my 2005 25ft Safari and replace it with a dinette sitting area like in a newer Flying Cloud. Does anyone have plans or measurements you would be willing to share?. Thanks.

I've yet to sit in a comfortable camper dinette. They are handy for meals and games, but not for sitting to read or watch. They are really beds that fold up to a dinette. If there are kids on the trip, then a dinette is useful. If there are just the two of you, then consider the recliner option. We find comfortable seating more important than a dinette.

Just a thought for your consideration...

I agree with David, Having had both for just the Admiral and myself we much prefer the additional storage space that the absence of the dinette usually provides. We are looking forward to our new to us Classic 31' that has the set up sans the dinette and the convection in a location that provides the ability for my 6' frame to read the digital readout without me getting on my knees.

I am moving forward on the dinette on Monday. Also ordered a Springfield Gas pedistal for the table. The plan is for the table to push down and make a bed. We had the gaucho couch but was a pain to eat or visit. Will send pictures as I progress.

I removed the couch and flimsy flip flop table in my 2004 Safari. I replaced it with a dinette purchased online, (google rv furnature). It is a substantial booth style dinette finished in heavy vinyl with the table on a pedestal. It looks stock as the colors harmonize with those in the AS.
It sat in the middle of the floor as there is no way to get one with radiused sides matching the wall of the AS. I had a carpenter build a counter along the wall in back and on the sides of the dinette and trim everything to match the existing trim in the Airstream adding needed space to put things. This was a fairly complete remodel. At the same time I ripped out the awful worn out carpet and replaced it with composite flooring and replaced the flimsy plastic toilet with a nice china one.
I have lost track of the pictures taken at the time of remodel but anyone who sends me a private message with their email address asking for pictures will get them when I get the trailer out of storage in about a month and take new pictures.
I agree that dinettes are not usually comfortable for lounging but I have a new flatscreen on the wall and I can watch tv by lounging against the back of the dinette which is upholstered and stretch out.
I found the stock couch and flip flop table very uncomfortable when eating or trying to work on the computer both activities are very comfortable with the dinette. As a bonus, it will comfortably seat 4 for dinner.
You can purchase a dinette which is convertible into a double bed if you need the sleeping space.
I find the remodel very useful and attractive. In fact it has saved us money as the alternative would have been to trade of the Airstream as it was getting uncomfortably shabby.
The only downside is cost. The dinette cost about $1,700 and I have about $5,000 in the job. One who is a skilled carpenter could half that figure as I had to hire a professional carpenter to do the work.

Those are some great pictures and changes. I am also replacing the skylight with a Maxium skylight and adding a Fantastic fan to the front vent. We really like the size of our trailer just needed to make it more useful for us. I will add pictures of the dinette as it progresses.

Hi, This change that we did to our trailer made it more useful and comfortable too. Instead of only two people to use our fold out table fully extended, or maybe two more with fold up chairs. Now we can have five people at the table, when fully extended or three with the table half open. Also from our Gaucho, our view was to the back of our trailer; Now from the street side Gaucho, our view is out the front window, the curb side window, and out of the screen door.

Queen size bed for a dinette

I based my dinette off some pillows my wife found at Costco. A 3 x 4 grid made a queen size bed exactly.

Well most of the work is done. We will work on the cushions soon. This increased storage and seating. I will add photos of the cushions when we get them installed. The next project is to replace the skylight with a Maxium and add another fantastic fan. Also replace all of the curtains.

Hi, your remodel is coming along real nice. Plenty of seating area and lots of storage space.

Nice work on the dinette! I'm anxious to see what you do for cushions! Where did you get the extending table mounting pole, if I may ask?
