bathroom/living room divider?
I need to replace our folding screen panel that divides the bathroom and living room in our '64 Safari. Would any of you have any suggestions?

I'd personally probably replace it with a new folding screen. First, very little else will store as compactly. Another option would be a nice curtain. I've seen an occasional bifold or pocket door, but they somehow looked wrong. One person I know is thinking about using shoji screens.
Weight and air circulation are your other considerations.
I've never really thought these provide much real privacy. More of just a visual screen.
Enjoy whatever you choose.

Hi Paula,
Thnx for the ideas..I've been toying with getting another folding screen, or fabric bath shower curtains that look would look good yet still afford privacy and compactiblitly too..hmm, decisions, decisions! I love a challenge..paula

Hi! Vintage Trailer Supply, www.vintagetrailersupply.com, has replacement folding doors that would fit in my '64 Tradewind. I believe the cost is around $124.99 . You can pick the color of wood to match your interior. Also, I believe Camping World has a replacement door which may be an off-white-ish yellowish color. I haven't seen them in person, only online. Good luck!

We have an original (but optional) door in our '64 and like it. You could probably add one to yours in lieu of the folding screen. It also has a 3/4 length mirror on the bathroom side which is really nice to have.
Here is a "before" picture that shows the door closed and an "after" picture that shows it open...

I checked vintage trailer supply's website and couldn't find any refrences to a folding divider door. As a fellow '64 Safari owner in need of the same door I am keenly interested in any and all available choices. Keep us posted on which way you go.......

Just to throw out another thought...
Some of the newer Airstreams have cool doors that roll up... Look similar to a soji screen when open. Might take a look at those. Probably a little more spendy than the replacement folding door.
Decisions, decisions, decisions....

Neither, it is original. I've seen other '64s with the same & similar doors, just not another GT.
I've been told the wood door was an option in lieu of the accordian door for that year. Also while at Int'l last year, one of the Airstream techs confirmed it was a standard option which may have been ordered by either the original owner or the dealer and installed at the factory.
We thought of replacing it, but once we determined it was original and not a PO addition, we decided to keep it.

Hi toddster,
I found that if you go down the left side column and click on miscellaneous interior, you'll see the door option. ( I couldn't find it at first, either)..

Hi back-to-ya fellow Californian! Cardiff is just north of San Diego and Del Mar. We have a great beach campground, San Elijo, and we're just south of South Carlsbad State Beach campground as well. Both are perfect for visitors from Sacramento!

I replaced my '63 Trotters with one I purchased from Camping World. It is the folding type and is very similar to my original door in style and color. Folds compactly and was very easy to install. You can order any width or length you need. Camping World had the best price I could find on this door anywhere ( comes from United in Elkhart). I got it in about ten days after placing my order and have been very pleased so far.

I Should have been a little clearer and said " accordian style" instead of folding.

Hi 63air,
I'll have to check into Camping World one of these days. thnx for the suggestion. The folding screen door we're replacing is one that I bought from JC Penney's catalogue about 20 years ago. Nice to know there are so many great ideas from members and so many ways to go too..

62 glbetrotter accordion door.
hello there, i tii am looking for an extra accordion door., that seperates the bathroom from hallway. i do have the original, although while having it repaired recently, i decided to buy some taupe color canvas material to begin making another one.so i have a lady making the new one at a fabric store ,whom i met while attending the international rally in salem.we found the material for the rods for this type of a pella style fabric door at home depot. what i am looking for is the rest of the hardware,if maybe somebody has a wrecked out or extra door for parts,or the magnetic latching handle and top curtain track fasteners that slide into the curtain track.any hard ware from the period would be helpful. thanks to all wunderful62

interior doors
We replaced the folding door with a nice beaded curtain with a Island Palm Tree design.
