Aluminum Trim Finally Found

After over three years of searching, I finally found this aluminum trim. I saw a picture of it in use in the Winnick designed 75th Anniversary Edition so I called the factory. The young lady that answered the phone in parts was stymied so she went and asked another parts person. He had no idea what I was talking about either. I asked her to look up the online picture I was looking at so she knew what I was referring to. She said she'd get back to me once she found it. It took her a couple of days to locate it and she returned my call. Said I'd need to order a minimum of 12 feet and that I'd have to place my order through a dealer. I called Rick at Oasis in Tucson and explained my story to him along with the part number. Rick called me back a few days later and said my order was being sent out from their shop in Tucson that very afternoon.

It is part number 115345 and the factory has to special order it from a manufacturer as it was only used on a prototype. It runs $2.95 per foot plus shipping with a minimum order of 12 feet. It was exactly what I was looking for. My era of vintage used something very similar but all I could ever find, when I could locate some from a parts trailer, was full of holes and scratched up. This trim provides a nice finished look with an authentic period correct feel.

Still have the bathroom to do, maybe next weekend if it's not over 110 degrees.

Do you have dimensions? They also have a 12 ft minimum. I got my wheel well trim from them.

That looks like the stuff. The dimensions are the same. The factory probably ordered it from them. I got my wheelwell trim from them too. Suppose I should have reviewed their entire inventory when I was on their webpage. Dooh.

I think that's the same trim used as a splash in the vintage Bambi. Anyone know how to bend it?

I estimate you could bend about a 24" radius. More if you anneal it. You would need to keep the long leg "up" so you are crimping the short leg.

Are the hols pre-drilled in the Airstream material? Looks like the other supplier does have the holes pre-drilled.
I definitely need a couple hundred feet of this for my interior..what's the maximum shipping size? Anyone know?

They (Brunner) answer email pretty quick. I don't think the molding comes pre-drilled, and I had them cut the standard 12' lengths into 4' pieces for shipping.

You should email them tomorrow with your questions. Prices are good, and service was excellent.

Holes were not pre-drilled from Airstream. Imagine it would be the same thing from Brunner. Mine was shipped in a 7 foot sturdy cardboard tube about 3" in diameter. A couple hundred feet? Really?

Not really....I meant that I need quite a bit of it, since I want to trim all the countertops and the bath tub with it.

The kitchen looks great! I'll have to keep this stuff in mind when I get to re-doing the kitchen. What a great find. Hope it cools off so you can play on your A/S!

I too am curious how you could bend this????

I'm going to bend it with the long side up as previously suggested and plan on bending it around a barrel with a soaked dowel inside the L shape a little at a time. It's fairly soft material without much thickness. We'll see how it goes next weekend. I'll let you all know.

Brad, I'll be doing the counters this fall & plan on using laminate. Are you also familiar with the aluminum trim for the front edges of the counters? Your work looks great by the way.

I used the 13/16" on the galley cabinet and 5/8" in the bathroom both of these the rippled in the shiney finish. I've been very happy with it.
