Red face '74-31' Sovereign - Ideas for updating?

Hi, I'm looking for other owner's ideas/photos of cool retro updating for my Airstream. Previous owner removed fold-out bed, so that needs to be replaced with something else. Plus the fold-up table is pretty well done-in, so was interested in what other people did.
I'm thinking of replacing the table with a '50's style chrome base/formica top screwed in-place table. Any thoughts on that?
Plus I'm looking for a non-traditional replacement fold-out bed idea. Has anyone built anything?
Also.....does anyone have the interior dimensions for where the fold-out bed goes for this year and make?
enough questions? I have plenty more.....

Hi tettero,
Welcome to the forums
By "fold out bed" do you mean the one in the middle or the one in the very front? I have a 75 Sovereign, mid twins, rear bath. I orginally had the front gaucho that folds out into a double bed, but I have considered not putting it back in. Instead put in 2 Euro recliners and a small coffee table/cabinet. The best part about an Airstream is you can do about anything you want.

more info....

it's a mid-bath unit, and I mean the fold-out bed at the front. The previous people replaced it with an over-stuffed sofa bed which when folded-out takes up the whole space with no room for anyone to move.
I'd like to have some sort of fold-out bed for guests. I have seen some interesting ones at IKEA and EQ3, but don't know if they'll fit.
My Airstream is parked somewhere where I don't have access right now...long story...
When you say coffee table, what do you do when you're travelling? Doesn't it move around?

Not if your axles are in good shape and the running gear is properly balanced. My axles are fair, but I have actually left a cup of coffee on the counter and it was still there when I stopped a couple of hours later It will have some bearing on the type of roads and speeds you drive too. The dimensions you are looking for the orginal gaucho were roughly 74" x48" open. You may actually be able to go a bit wider than that. The interior dimension is 7'4" wall to wall, but IIRC there should be a cabinet on the curb side that takes up about 10"-12" of that.
