72 Trade Wind Closet Latch Dissasembly

Ok, I feel REAL dumb. I have a closet latch with a broken spring, a shop cabinet full of compression springs and I cannot figure out how to dissasemble the silly latch short of a 2.5 pound hammer! Help me before I hurt the thing!

Unhappy

I was kind of waiting for someone to ask that one myself! Judging from all the replies, I guess we are not all that dumb! Maybe you really do need to use a hammer.

This little thing is driving me nuts. Of course the parts on the outside of the door come off with screws. Was hoping there was some secret to taking apart the latch on the inside of the door. I see that it is riveted to the door but am leary of 'convincing' it to come apart. I guess I will start warming up with the hammer.
