'69 Overlander cabinetry wood species?

Started my second AS renovation. I was able to salvage the wood cabinetry during the demolition (one of the reasons why I bought it). Last night I started to sand a few spots on the wood and found some beautiful reddish wood under the layer of crap someone used to stain it. My 70' Safari had a nice oak wood throughout. The Overlander had a dark finish to the wood. After removing some layers, it looks as if the wood my be a Cherry? Or maybe it was the stain they used and gave the Oak a reddish tint. It definitely is a hardwood, Im just not that much of a wood species expert to know what it is, Any ideas?

Most were ASH, unless it is International series then its Mahogany.

According to the specs for that year, the cabinets for the Special and Deluxe Land Yachts are Ash while American Walnut was used for the International Land Yacht Series.

Could be ash but also most likely American Walnut heart and sap. Walnut gets lighter over time unlike some other woods which darken up. It will be hard to match up but shouldn't matter. One thing walnut these days,unlike then, is steamed which changes the color. It greys it up. They steam it to get "less sap" by bleeding the heart into it. Drabs it out a bit if you ask me. But there are back yard millers that might have some. Still won't match.

Oh, not cherry. Cherry darken about ten times faster than other woods.

Judging from your picture , the top piece (horizontal ) is mahogany ; the vertical I can not tell for sure but it looks to be something else. If it is a part that does not show this would not be unusual and could be done to save weight and or cost. This is from a guy with 50 years experience in furniture finishing/ restoration.

yep mu mistake I said mahogany, meant Walnut. Beautiful dark wood! Mine has ASH. Even says ash on the back of some of the panels

Thanks for all the info. Seems as if the majority say it is Walnut. After reading the specs that Cameron supplied clearly states American Walnut for the International models. I am excited to see such beautiful wood under years on coatings. Thanks Again!!
