2005 Bambi - Overhead cabinet bracket broken

We have a 2005 Bambi CCD with an overhead cabinet over the rear bed. I had someone tighten the screws in the brackets before a long trip last year, thinking it would reinforce the cabinet into the ceiling. I'd read of some cabinets falling from their ceiling mount and I didn't want this to happen to our trailer.

On a recent trip, we noticed the cabinet was loose yet again and upon closer inspection, we noticed that of the 2 brackets, one was completely snapped in half and not contributing at all to holding the cabinet in place. The other bracket only had 1 screw that was engaged/connected to the top of the trailer. How on earth that thing didn't fall is beyond my comprehension. We arrived home with the cabinet still attached, but it's clear we need to find a solution ASAP.

My husband would prefer to take the whole assembly down and just start over and he'd prefer to build something new from scratch. I am very much against this as I don't think it's possible to build something lighter AND with the same look/feel as the existing cabinetry in the trailer. I also think it's like cutting off your hand b/c you have a hangnail.

I am hopeful that we can re-mount this without too much of an issue. I wanted to see if anyone has had this issue and how did you resolve it? I checked the brackets on the other (2) overhead cabinets in the trailer and they seem to be just fine. It's just this one over the rear/bed that is an issue.

Any suggestions/experience you can share with us on re-attaching this and making sure the problem is fixed for good?

Thanks!
Desiree

I haven't heard of this cabinet coming loose before. If you build a new one, perhaps you can reuse the doors to keep the same finish/appearance.
