I am in need of one cabinet latch for my 1962 Ambassador. I have been unable to find the original replacement at Inland or Vintage Trailer Supply. I am looking for the ones that have a white knob that locks when closed. They look like they are white plastic or bakelite.
Those eight sided catches are called phenolic knobs and are made of a material similar to bakelite. They came in white or black and are really scarce. I have one extra black one where the teeth are worn off the shaft making it unable to latch securely.
Good luck in your quest and nice to know there's another vintage Airstream owner in the Phoenix area.

I have been there and pickings are mighty slim if you're looking for specific vintage Airstream parts. They do have fridges, ovens, AC's and the like they have pulled from wrecked RV's but little old Aistream parts. I DID find four burner rings for my Princess stove though.
