1976 Caravanner floorplan
How many are out there with this very unique model , and what do you think the plus and minus are of no bedroom?

The Caravanner is a spcific model , same size as a Tradewind ( 25 ft )but has no bedroom , lots of windows. The layout is similar to yours with the middle cut out , does that make sense .

Its a lonely world out here in 25 foot Caravanner land !!! Had mine for almost 2 years and not saw one close . Mine has 2 gonchos, one across the front and the other on the curb side , with a rear bath, Just 2 of us and sometimes a grandchild , plenty for us .

My layout is about the same , it also has a free standing swivel rocker with matching upholstery. The interior is original , except for curtains (wife) and in suprisingly good condition. I did have to replace the furnace , other than that I've been able to clean and repair every thing else , oh , and new valves for the propane tanks.

If you want to see some pics , go to Vintage Airstream site and click on Archives . Scroll down to '76 and '78 and click on Caravanner. Mine is like the '76 with the tan interior , only not quit as pristine . It looks like the pics were taken when it was new , it doesn't look like it was restored.

I had a '76 Caravanner for 12 years and loved it. I replaced the side couch with a dinette that folded into an extra-long single bed. All the windows were thermopane. I redid the interior in pine which lightened it up even more. Weighed 5500lbs ready to travel and I used it in some very cold weather and poor travel conditions. A great trailer. Fortunately, the folks who bought it have turned out to be good friends and are taking even better care of it than I did. No possibility of buying it back, either!! Darol

The 70s Caravaners were also called the "Party" model. You could get ots of people in it to party!

To answer your question: the plus of no bedroom is that the interior space is much more open, allowing more wall space for more windows. For 2 people with no kids, or if there's no specific need for privacy, this model is preferable to the same size TradeWind.
The drawback of no bedroom is the lack of privacy, and/or division. My wife and I enjoyed the compartmentalized Tradewind we used to have, she could be in front and read, I could watch a DVD or snooze in the bedroom without us disturbing each other.
I am reasonably sure, though, that we would have been just fine in the Caravanner. This is actually my favorite 70's Airstream layout.

The layout is very simililar to the layout of our GlobeTrotter...just a couple of feet longer ~ no "bedroom", no problem!

You've got that right , it's like a magnet . We started out camping 25 years ago with a group of friends in tents with more kids than adults.Five couples ,none of us has ever missed a Labor Day.Now we're all old and have trailers (only one AS)Guess where we all are when the elements get to be too much.

Last spring we had 7 adults stay in the Airstream for 3 days, it was cold and rainy and sleeting but we all survived .

I found a '76 Caravaner last week sitting in a field and asked the owner about it. It is in sad shape has been sitting ther for about four years and the inside is trashed. Well I was telling my nieghbor and he told me that he was wanting to get an Airstream and would like a project so he went and looked at it and is going to adopt it and bring it back to life. He was wanting to know if I could find a floor plan for this model, so here goes! Anyone have the floor plans?

the one advantage
to having a bedroom is that when all those folks who are still tenting come piling in to your cozy monocoque you can feign some decorum by closing the br door till the bed is made.

Our first RV was a 25 foot 1976 Caravanner. The only drawback we found was that each morning all the bedding had to be put up and the sofa returned to its seating configuration. It never failed that if we left the sofa as a bed with the cover and pillows, someone who was intrigued by the AS wanted to look at the inside. A lot of bedmaking! It was a great floorplan except that we bumped into each other a lot coming and going through the walkway. Lots more room to entertain because of the two sofas. Overall, worked great for us.
