Unless I am very far from any services I usually do not carry a spare for my single axle Safari. After testing the fit, I found the spare for my pickup will fit my trailer. When I am far off the beaten path I will carry 2 spares that will fit either the trailer or the pickup.
Here is my setup. Aluminum channel across the A frame with galvanized bolts that go through lug holes on the wheel. Has never come close to dragging due to proximity to tongue.
BambiTex - I am trying to do this exact same thing, but I am struggling with where to run the gas lines to get them past the tire and under the trailer.

Where did you find to run yours?
Thanks.
Not visible in the photo, but channel runs on top of the tongue so there is a gap between the wheel and belly pan where the gas lines come down from the tanks and loop up onto belly pan. Will try to find a better pic.
Thanks, I think I know what you mean, but I am still struggling to work out how the tire clears the gas pipe when it is past the A-frame and under the belly pan.
No photo and unfortunately no longer own the trailer but I think the belly pan and gas lines had enough give that when I tightened the bolts the tire just moved them slightly while bearing mainly on the A frame.
